Dozens Detained, 144 Imposed in Peshawar


PESHAWAR: Section 144 has been enforced in NWFP and dozens activists have been detained in the province after Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan provinces.
DCO Peshawar Zaheer-ul-Islam has announced enforcement of section 144 in the city and Jamat Islami district chief and his deputy have been detained at their houses, while hundreds political activists have been arrested.
The PML-N leader Zafar Iqbal Jhagra and dozens local leaders of Tehrik-e-Insaf have been detained at their houses.
Police raids and crackdown continued against the lawyers leaders. Chief Minister of NWFP Amir Hyder Hoti Thursday said that no arrests will be made and 144 imposed in the province.
